More Colors!

Today we worked a little bit more on our Colors Unit. We did our experiment with mixing different colors of food coloring to see what the end result would be. My kiddos LOVED this and did a surprisingly good job filling out their "data sheets". Here is a pic of one of their completed sheets:

We also finished our "Color Word Graphs" today. Here they are:

You can see these activities, the ones from yesterday, and more in my unit on Tpt. Here is a better look at some of what is included:
Have a good night!!

Colors Unit

This week we are wrapping up our colors unit. Every day we focus on a different color and a few children are chosen to bring in show and tells of that color. For example, last week on green day one of my little girls brought in a doll from Ireland who had on a green dress. Another student brought in a green Matchbox car and another brought in a green paperweight from her house. It poses an extra challenge for them to find something in their home that fits the color they have been assigned. We also have been playing a few different games from my Colors Unit on TPT.

Here we have Color Word Memory. It is a little hard to tell from the picture, but each color word is written in the corresponding color to ensure correctness (in the picture most of them are flipped over). At this point in the year I am focusing more on my students learning how to play rather than how much information they are actually taking in. If you choose to do this unit later in the year though, the cards can be printed in black and white for an extra challenge.

In this picture the kids are practicing their handwriting by going over laminated sentence strips with Expo markers. When the are finished, they wipe them off with a tissue (I need to have them all bring in a sock!).

This one is a new favorite, the Rainbow Land game. This game is played very similar to Candy Land except instead of flipping over a color, they flip over a color word. The color word is written in the color it represents.

Here is a closer picture of Rainbow Land... I will try to post more later in the week!

There are more pages to this unit that we have not gotten to yet. I will be sure to post more later this week!!

Currently September

I am finally joining up with Farley for her Currently September! I read so many of these over the summer and always thought "Oh, they're so cute, I will get around to making my own next month"and never did. I finally made one! So here goes:
Ya'll let me explain about this running errands in advance thing. I never realized this before but when a either the DNC or the RNC comes to a city, they basically shut the city down for the entire week. Schools are closed, businesses are closed, our big corporations like Bank of America and Wells Fargo are closing their downtown offices and their employees have to work from home. All of this mostly because they have to shut down many of the major roads. My school is not closed all week, but we are closed on Thursday because even MORE roads are closed and the buses would not be able to get to the students to pick them up.

I never really put much thought into the cities the conventions are in until I lived through one and let me tell ya, while it is very exciting and will temporarily help the economy in Charlotte, I want so badly for things to go back to normal!!!

And now on to my favorite things... I have already blogged enough about my recent obsession with KPM Doodles Clip art so I think I will let that one rest. My other obsession is this adorable little boutique near my house that sells fun, funky jewelry. They have a website here that you can look at but some of the ones I am wanting to buy are below.

Ahh, I just love how funky and cute they are. Alright, now it is your turn to link up with Farley and make your Currently September!

More Freebies

I feel like I have done nothing but sit at my computer and make cute little documents for my class with my new clip arts and fonts from KPM Doodles. I made another freebie that will be helpful for any Pre-K through 2nd grade teachers, especially if you teach a color unit.

They are free at my TPT store so head on over and pick them up!! I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend!!

Cute Fonts and Clip Arts

Are any of ya'll as obsessed with cute fonts as I am?? I love how much a cute font can jazz up whatever you are creating and I really love whenever someone I know finds a new cute one and shares. Some of my favorites are from Kevin and Amanda and the best part about the K&A ones is that they are free!! I am probably the last blogger on earth to stumble across the adorable fonts and clip arts on Etsy but just in case I am not, I wanted to share my new favorite with all of you! My newest font/clip art obsession is from KPMDoodles on Etsy. I love her large selection of images and fonts and how reasonably priced they are! So I have been playing around with my new fonts and created a little freebie for you! I have been wanting to buy some number word signs on TPT and figured I would just make my own. Here they are :)
